Phang Nga was formerly inhabited by small communities. During the reign of King Rama II, many people fled to this land. In 1824, the invaders were expelled, and then it gradually was expanded to be a province. It can be said that Phang Nga is a melting pot of Buddhists, Thai-Chinese, Muslims and others. Phang Nga now is free of religious tension and people can live in peace and harmony.

Phang Nga is a province famous for its gorgeous land, stunning bay, and great islands, particularly Phang Nga Bay, including hundreds of islands such as James Bond Island, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai, with laid-back atmosphere that allows tourists feel cultural experience. The most famous spot is Phang Nga Bay National Park – a geological wonder filled with islands, deep caverns, and astonishing rock formations rising vertically from the sea. Surin and Similan group of islands are renowned for their beauty with untouched beaches and fantastic underwater scenery, which attract divers from around the world. On the mainland, there are full of rare birds, mammals, as well as exotic scenery and waterfall.

Coming to Phang Nga, travelers should come and see the Heaven and Hell Cave. Take a songteow along the main road to get here then walk along the temple. This place is patterned after the Hindu tradition. There are various statues of gods and virtues. All of them are extremely vivid and alike to the medieval Christian images. Don’t miss the chance to come to some other attractions near the city such as: the Temple of Elephant Mountain, the waterfall of Sanong Manora, and the Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park. Immerse yourself in nature with jungles tours or rafting and temple tours.
