Running under the stunning Gunung Mulu National Park is the largest network of limestone caves to be found anywhere in the world. Many can be visited and explored, and most hold a world record of some sort (largest entrance, largest cave, largest tunnel etc).

What to do in Gunung Mulu National Park

    Watch the bat exodus. The producers of the rather acidic-smelling guano are the stars of the show on most nights, when up to five million bats depart Lang Cave and Deer Cave at dusk. The exodus often takes over an hour as a line of bats over 6 miles long heads out for the night – suffice to say, mosquitoes are not much of a problem in Mulu!

    Head underground to explore the record-breaking cave complex

    Climb the Pinnacles, an unusual rock formation with excellent views across the Park

    Hike along wonderful nature trails and challenging treks

    Take part in adventure activities

    Look out for the abundance of wildlife, such as gibbons, birds, bats and frogs

    There are also one or two species of plant and tree life to discover!
