Thai for a day

Today, you'll eat like a local and learn about daily life in a true Thai neighbourhood as you spend the day with a local Thai family.

Get in Mr Prapat's vehicle and drive the 20 minutes to Hang Dong to see his "Thai family" for the day. Dressing like a native in some 'fisherman's trousers' and visiting a family in their home and rice barn is a great way to see authentic Thai culture. Basket weaving is an age-old art form in Thailand, and your family will show you how they do it. Stroll around the tiny family farm and stock up on fresh supplies for your favourite home-cooked meals. The tastes you'll learn to cook with in Northern Thailand are unique compared to those taught in most restaurants or culinary schools. A local Thai family will invite you into their house as their guests, and you will all work together to prepare a great meal for lunch. I walked around the area in the afternoon to check out the local cottage businesses before returning to Chiang Mai.

Mr Prapat and his family will host you for lunch and look after you during your private trip. They will not provide a guide.
