In 1963, monk Thich Quang Duc left in his light blue Austin and drove to Ho Chi Minh City, where he burnt himself at the stake to protest the President's anti-Buddhist policies.
The next stop is Minh Mang's mausoleum, located amid pine and frangipani-filled gardens farther river.
