Perfume River Journey

Hue's riverfront is where you may get on a boat for a scenic trip up the Perfume River to the royal cemeteries of Vietnam. After a two-hour boat ride upriver, you may stop at the tranquil and gorgeous Thien Mu Pagoda, an important Buddhist shrine. In 1963, monk Thich Quang Duc left in his light blue Austin and drove to Ho Chi Minh City, where he burnt himself at the stake to protest the President's anti-Buddhist policies.

The next stop is Minh Mang's mausoleum, located amid pine and frangipani-filled gardens farther river.
